NEW TOYS Widex Moment 440s

Pi day, 2025

How can you improve the sound of your awesome stereo across the board? Source of course.
But I have digital and analog. Oh.
How about ears? I just upgraded my ears. Oh my, the stereo is sounding great.

Today is day 7 and the hearing aid vendor did a remote tune-up and answered a few questions that I'd had. I had noticed a few anomalies and the solution was to change ear tips on the receivers (speakers) in my ears.

Let’s back up. I knew my hearing was deteriorating 😱. My wife was pointing that out quite often. Was it selective hearing or hearing loss? Off to Kaiser for a hearing test. Normal for my age. 70. I need hearing aids.

Frank Doris wrote an article in Copper magazine about his hearing aid journey. He found a brand preferred by musicians. Great! Widex Moment 440 hearing aids.

I looked up local audiologists and saw one 8 blocks away. Checked out prices and found out these are high-end devices. $4500-$6500. I looked into Costco hearing aids. Something made me leery. Time to do some serious shopping. Widex is a top brand. Other manufacturers have lots of bells and whistles but Widex is known for their natural sound and seems to have more bells and whistles than I’ll ever need. They also come in a variety of colors and should you desire to you can order them one ear at a time. Music to my ears. Also note, that Widex has a 0.5 millisecond delay while their best competitor has a 5.0 millisecond delay.

A bit more shopping showed a web-based retailer. Do I need the handholding a brick-and-mortar would provide? I don’t think so. I can set up a turntable/tonearm/cartridge. I can build a PC and set up a network. I am up to this online collaborative task.

After seeing the much lower prices, like $2500 a pair, I called, asked a few questions, and ordered. Is this too good to be true? No. I photographed my Audiogram from Kaiser, emailed it to discountdailyhearing.com, and 10 days later received a new pair of Widex Moment 440 hearing aids that were programmed based on my audiogram. Included was a new charger and every ear tip available from Widex. I tried a few tips today and found one that makes the Widex sound perfect for me.

My world is now noisy.

Music sounds great.

Kevin says, check ‘em out!
