Our First ‘Deep Listening’ Event

Alón Sagee | Published on 1/27/2016

Our January 30th event will be all about the music as we listen to the Grateful Dead’s seminal 1970 releases,Workingman’s Dead and American Beauty, on fresh copies of Mobile Fidelity’s recent 45 RPM numbered releases. As a special treat, for context, insight and discussion, we are pleased to welcome special guest David Gans. David is an author, radio producer, musician, songwriter and recording artist whose knowledge and appreciation of Grateful Dead music is pretty much unmatched. He is co-author of This is All a Dream We Dreamed: An Oral History of the Grateful Dead (published November 2015), his third book about the band. For nearly 30 years he has produced and hosted the nationally syndicated radio program The Grateful Dead Hour, in addition to Dead-related programming on local radio station KPFA and on SiriusXM. In 1985, he was a founding host of the Grateful Dead forums on The WELL, the pioneering online community that proved an uncanny good fit with the unique needs of GD fans everywhere to connect and share information.
